Thinkific Plus

Overview

Thinkific Plus is the enterprise tier of Thinkific, purpose-built for organizations training external audiences at scale — customers, partners, and resellers. It is worth separating from the parent brand: most people know Thinkific as a creator-economy course platform, and Plus is a different product aimed squarely at Customer Education teams.

The strategic idea behind it is stated bluntly by co-founder and CEO Greg Smith: “Education is no longer a cost center — it’s a business model.” Plus is one of very few platforms in the enterprise customer education category that ships a complete commerce stack natively — checkout, subscriptions, payment plans, B2B invoicing, and group orders live inside the learning platform, not alongside it. That makes monetized certification, licensed training, and paid academies a configuration rather than an engineering project.

The rest of the platform is built for speed. Branded, white-labeled academies on your own domain, drag-and-drop course building, learning paths, cohorts, in-course community, certifications, SSO, enterprise API, and native Salesforce and HubSpot integrations that can trigger learning paths from CRM events. Their AI teaching assistant, Thinker, answers learner questions grounded in your own course content and stays in sync as that content changes.

Their own framing of the problem is the sharpest sentence on their site: “Most customers don’t abandon products because the product is bad. They leave because they never fully learned how to use it.”

Sponsor Highlights

  • Commerce is native, not bolted on. Subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, group orders, and B2B invoicing are part of the platform — the infrastructure for education as a revenue line.
  • No per-active-learner fees, $0 setup. You are not billed more for a successful onboarding quarter, which is a meaningfully different incentive structure from the rest of the category.
  • Fast to launch. Plus customers go live in a median of 64 days. Keap migrated off Cornerstone in 48 hours and cut partner onboarding time by 30%.
  • Built for external audiences. Customers, partners, resellers, and franchisees — with multi-site management from a single admin panel and a white-labeled branded mobile app.
  • Thinker AI teaching assistant. Grounded in your own course content, deployed site-wide, with quiz and assessment safeguards and automatic re-sync when your content updates.
  • CRM-triggered learning. Native Salesforce and HubSpot integrations can enroll learners into paths based on lifecycle events, so education fires at the right moment instead of waiting to be found.
  • Certification programs. Professional certification, digital badges, and credentialing.
  • Proven at scale. Hootsuite Academy: 500,000 learners and 72,000+ certification completions. IntelyCare reached 500,000+ learners, with 200,000 completing in the first ten days. Chargebee, Flashpoint.io, PayShepherd, and Learn Tourism round out the Plus roster.

The CELab Perspective

We’re careful about who we recommend here, and Thinkific Plus makes the list because it takes a real swing at the structural problem in our field.

Customer Education has a ledger problem. When your program sits on the expense side, every conversation about it is a conversation about cost — regardless of how good your outcomes are. You can walk into planning with immaculate adoption data and still be arguing against a number in a column labeled “spend.”

Plus is built for teams who want to move to the other side of that ledger. Native commerce means selling certification or licensing training to enterprise accounts is a setting, not a two-quarter integration project. And the pricing model matters more than it looks: no per-active-learner fees means you are never penalized for the exact outcome you were hired to produce.

It is not the deepest enterprise LMS in the category, and if you need a genuinely headless architecture or extreme multi-tenant complexity, look carefully. But if you want a branded academy live this quarter, with a path to making education pay for itself, this is a very strong fit — and a rare one.
